10 Sept Tues Hola! (Hi) - the Other J

Hola! (Hi) The first entry has to be how very VERY proud I am of the other J. From  being very hesitant about even thinking about speaking Spanish, she can now read a simple shop sign and get herself around on the Madrid metro, and her ear and pronunciation has improved in leaps and bounds ,,,, all this in less than a week! Perhaps an immersion styled learning programme would be the way to go.

As for me I a well, happy, and living large, but taking better care of myself. My eosophobia, (An irrational hatred or dislike of dawn and the early hours of daylight) is getting better, and now instead of just grumbling and stumbling about first thing in the morning, I just stumble about!

The trip is everything I hoped it would be and more. However, every now and again I still can't believe that the things that I am experiencing are really real. Yesterday we went to a place called Toledo which has been around for over a thousand years. I've seen this place countless times on T.V. and movies etc. yet to be able to just put the tip of my little finger on one of the bricks, it really rammed home to me how long this building had been around and how transient we and our trials and tribulations really are.

Now we are in Portugal, which apart from some of its history and most of its music, has always been a bit of a mystery to me. So I'll let you know what I make of it.

Cheers.
