9 Sept - Monday on the road to Lisbon via Fatima

Our entry into Portugal from Spain was inconsequential as no passports or stoppages were required.
Like everything else, Portugal was very special.
 First stop -Fatima
It was pure luck that we were at Fatima on a Monday - which is a slow day - as most museums etc are closed and therefore Fatima was quite deserted.
It is built to cater for hundreds of thousands of people.

Looking towards the huge new church - completed couple of years ago

In the very front of the pews in the huge new white concrete church that is so peaceful.

The original church

I felt a sense of great serenity in both the incredibly expansive new church that has only been completed in the last couple of years, the original church and the massive surroundings.

Afterwards, in the village I bought another pair of rosary beads.  I followed my usual practise and bought from a shop that also sells vestments for the priests.  Makes it seem more of a "proper religious shop" to me - and surprisingly cheaper than the other shops I checked out.

Everyone spoke perfect English and were very gracious. It was a joy and privilege to have visited Fatima.
