We rushed ( and "sort of got lost" but didn't really care as we discovered another lot of interesting and inviting places, beautiful friendly people and food for the Gods ( that unfortunately was all too much for us to consume) .
Our first stop after a few wrong twists and turns was the Picasso Museum. I am absolutely awesome for pre-booking this ( for 3 but alas only 2 of us could go) as others had to line up. No photographs were allowed inside the museum but we took a couple in the area just before the entry.
To be honest, I wasn't a great fan of Picasso but I came out "gob smacked". How about this for coincidence ( or ?). Remember I mentioned the only French I could recall was "the cat is on the
table". In the last room of the extensive collection there were two particular paintings that caught my eye. One had in the foreground a white mouse on a table and the second had a white cat on the table. Of course it is entirely irrelevant that Picasso was Spanish and I was remembering the French........
After Picasso and a coffee and a phone call to check on the sickie, Emma and I decided to continue to explores. We didn't follow anything but our noses. In the process we saw so many interesting things and we just wished we had more time and bigger tummies to take everything in.
The image on the lower right is the entrance to the church/Basicila. Usually I go into the church and says prayer but this time I didn't . Instead, we went to the Catholic ( I repeat) Catholic
gift shop next door which had many wonderful and many weird things that normally I would not copy. However, the fact that it was in the Catholic shop attached to the church made me decide I should really show what was on display/ for sale - all at reasonable prices. I would love to go back and buy up ( not on the items I am showing below)
The first item a cockroach necklace (yuk!) would be ideal for NSW Rugby State ofOrigin
The fried egg necklace would be ideal for our American friends who find it so difficult to survive without their eggs for breakfast.
The nude in a Catholic shop stunned me.
In the middle are beautiful earrings that would be just right for a daughter I know.
I think I'd pass on the cockroach necklace too! Eeuuww.
