After our wander around the town of Segovia, the next stop was the guided tour of the castle / fort/ Alcazar from the 14th century. I thought it looked a horrible thing from the outside and won't even bother with a photo. Obviously it was built to thwart the enemy and keep the King and Queen and their subjects safe and not just to "look good" from the outside.
Inside the fortress was another world. One can't help but wonder how the life of the poor would have been when the royalty, church and rich lived in their world of excesses.

ReplyDeleteI have only just caught up on news of your travels. So excited that all is going well for you. In Madrid with Emma we stayed about 2 mins walk from the Royal Palace; we also did the trip to Toleda.
