1 Oct -After breakfast in Munich to Salzburg - the other J

Day 4. Breakfast in Munich to dinner in Salzburg and butter incident. Mirabell gardens in Salzburg.

Once out of the hotel breakfast room and all these imaginings, about Germans and Arabs etc. we were on the road to Salzburg, and the butter incident!

We stopped off at a truck stop and ordered lunch. Two cappuccini, a big sausage, a couple of small bread rolls, tomato sauce, and butter.  It came to twenty eight dollars Australian!! We had part of somebody else's bill plus nearly one dollar fifty for a knob of butter! Extortion!. Apparently, Europeans don't serve butter with bread, so it costs extra. We all agreed that it was the you beaut, industrial sized, top of the range stuff, but it did seem odd to be charged for butter. The bill was eventually sorted out, so it was on to Salzburg.

SALZBURG.

Arriving late in the afternoon, we were instantly thrown into the city of The Sound Of Music, and Mozart, even though he only spent the first few years of his life there.

First stop was to the Mirrabell Gardens where in the film, the Sound of Music, the children posed in front of the statues.

Then we went to the town square. In the film, city hall was draped with massive swastika flags, and the camera man set up right at the top of the bell tower, so he could film the German army marching in across the town square.

But for me, it was all to do with Mozart, as you can see by the photos, I enjoyed myself immensely.

TRIVIA STUFF!

If you go to Salzburg and turn on Channel 35 on the T.V. You can watch The Sound Of Music 24/7, 365 days of the year.
