We left Brussels at 7.30 am and some of the group complained about the noise (from bars) during the night. As we were leaving the city we passed a bar that was overflowing with party revellers and very loud music and the people who thought they had had a rough night were thankful we weren't next to that bar.
Our first (of many) Cathedrals on this tour was at Cologne. It was huge but really cold and ugly (perhaps too Germanic? from the outside) so rather than visiting we sought out coffee and some bread rolls (beautiful and only a couple of Euro) for later.
Then our coach dropped us off so we could cruise on the Rhine. This is when we saw a castle and then another and another......
It was beautiful scenery and we enjoyed our wine and incredibly delicious bread rolls from Cologne as we sat on the open deck of the cruise boat. So incredible really. We still find it hard to comprehend we are doing all this.
Then, it was back onto the coach and on to Heidelberg were we spent the night.
And somewhere along the line, I saw these pastries / bread that I know Michael would love to try
